スイスで開催される44th St. Gallen Symposium（サンガレンシンポジウム）にLeaders of TomorrowのKnowledge Pool及びスピーカーとして招待され、以前の40th St. Gallen Symposiumに続き2回目で貴重な機会を頂き大変光栄です。
St. Gallen Symposiumは、40年以上の歴史を誇り、毎年5月にスイスのSt. Gallen大学のキャンパスで開催され世界の政・官・財・学、各界のリーダー約600人、各国メディア代表約150人、各国学生200人、総勢約1,000人が参加する国際シンポジウムです。4日の開催期間中、スピーカー の発表を基に、世代、文化、国情、産業を異にする参加者各々に共通する諸問題について意見交換の場となっています。
今年のテーマは「The Clash of Generations」、世代のギャップなどに関して議論します。トピックリーダーProf. Klaus Wellershoffの元、パネリストを務めるセッションは「Older is not necessarily better」でマネックスグループ株式会社、取締役会長の松本大さんとご一緒させて頂きます。英語になりますが下記がセッションの内容です。
The seniority system remains a strong element of Japan, which can affect other developed countries as well as soon-to-be developed countries. Many believe that the seniority system was first developed because of Japan’s tremendous postwar success. The fundamental reason, however, may be that Japan deliberately created a class system based on generations because it never had a strong class system in the first place. While in a sense, an age-based class system is fair, no soccer team created with such a system would be able to win. Discussions will focus on how Japan is trying to break away from the seniority system to regain its competitiveness.
